Despite my late-pregnancy doubtings, there really was a baby in that huge old belly of mine. I gave birth on Sunday to a beautiful little girl who we named Lillian Marie. She's beautiful, girlie, and perfect (a fact which the resident pediatrician officially confirmed).

Our little bundle weighed in at 6 lbs 14 oz and measures 21 inches long. She's my tall skinny girl! She's got lots of long dark hair, and her eyes are that pretty undefined grey/blue color that newborns are so famous for.

There will be pictures and more details soon, but that's all my brain can handle for now!

Giorgi wanted you to know that "Lilly is so sweet!"

She was telling anyone who would listen this all day.

I just wanted to point out that we say "We're pregnant" but "I gave birth."

Doesn't seem quite fair. I think with all of the medical sciencey things around, "they" would have developed a way for the father to assist with birthing with a bit more of an actual physical role...
We can labour, they can push! That would be fun!

Hey, just give us the sports section and it wouldn't be a problem.

(Please realize that I'm just kidding)

In Liam's defense, he held me up throughout probably 90% of the contractions so I feel that he did his share of the physical work. I feel sorry for his back and neck.

Maybe he's atoned for some of his carnal sin, but I wish they could feel a transition contraction just once. You know, those heavy-right-on-top-of-another contractions that feel like your sides are about to rip apart?

Did you like the bag Niki sent over? I think she had a little too much fun shopping for little baby girly things...

I remember the transition contractions. I tried to get up off the bed but never did make it until after Lillian had arrived.

The stuff from Niki was so cute! I'm in heaven with all the cutsie pinks and purples. I've been waiting five years for this girlie stuff!! If only baby girl would grow a bit so she could wear more than pink and yellow sleepers...

Damn. A girl. I was pulling for a boy. On account of the fact that boys are horrible!

See: Purcell, Alex William.

I agree with the boys are horrible comment.

See Purcell, Dylan Thomas.
