Today has been one of those days of which summer is made. It's as if the sun warmed up time and the hours became longer, sweeter, and brighter. The entire day was filled with many satisfying moments and our family enjoying time together was at the center of it all.

At the end of a summer which has been filled with countless hours scurrying around open houses, packing, and (literally) worrying myself sick, I truly appreciated the beauty that filled my day. As the four Edmontonian Johnstones sat on our new deck drinking smoothies a la Mom and basking in the morning sunshine, I was filled with a sense of satisfaction knowing that all the work had been worth where it has brought our family.

When I was younger, I used to think that the bumps and difficulties got in the way of the good times. As time goes on, however, I've learned to expect less than perfection and to enjoy the truly blissful moments which come along if you wait patiently. When days such as today come along I think to myself “This, this is what sustains me.”

When the house is a mess and I'm scattered and stressed I can look back at today and know that there will be other days like it. Life isn't about sunshine and lollipops, it's about maintaining an inner focus throughout the rough patches and basking in the joy of the good times.

so glad you sound so at peace. It's amazing that you feel that way so soon after your move. You must have worked very hard and accomplished a lot.

The house is far from being done, but it's certainly coming together. The main floor has a few stray boxes hanging around, but I'm able to have normal days with the kiddos. The upstairs and the basement are far from done, but these are extra spaces and the books, movies, toys etc. aren't daily items anyway.

I'm really happy with how well things are coming together, though. A little bit of FlyLady goes a long way! :P
